CEL Sheetmetal Invest in Continuous Improvement

From Internal Sales Manager to Continuous Improvement Manager, CEL is proud to announce that James Inglis is now CEL Sheetmetal's Continuous Improvement Manager.
James steps into this new position following his successful tenure as Internal Sales Manager. With a deep understanding of CEL's internal operations, customer expectations and production challenges, he is well-positioned to lead initiatives that will streamline processes, reduce waste and enhance collaboration across departments.
James brings valuable experience to this role not just from being within the company but also from the wider automotive sector, where performance, efficiency and quality are non-negotiable. His background in automotive management has shaped his approach to process optimisation, quality assurance and Lean operations, skills that translate seamlessly into CEL’s precision engineering environment.
“The lessons I learned in the automotive industry, especially around waste reduction, process control and operational discipline, are exactly what I’m bringing into this role,” he says. “At CEL, we have the talent and potential to take things to the next level.”
Driving Change from the Inside Out
James brings with him a passion for purposeful change and a results-driven mindset. His new role focuses on embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company, aligning operational efficiency with long-term business goals. His approach is grounded in Lean methodologies, data-driven decision making and the active involvement of CEL's most valuable asset, its people.
“Continuous improvement isn’t about quick fixes, it’s about creating a mindset where progress becomes part of the daily routine,” James explains. “It’s about identifying what works, what doesn’t and having the confidence to change, refine and evolve.”
One of the first initiatives under James’ leadership will be the rollout of 5S workshops and structured training sessions aimed at improving workplace organisation, safety, and efficiency. By involving employees from every level, James is fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered to identify inefficiencies and contribute ideas for positive change.
He plans to focus on achievable "quick wins" early in the process to build momentum and demonstrate the tangible benefits of continuous improvement. These small, early successes will serve as stepping stones toward deeper transformation.
James’s promotion marks a pivotal step in CEL Sheetmetal’s continued growth. As the business grows and adapts to meet changing customer demands and industry expectations, his leadership in continuous improvement will play a crucial role in driving innovation, enhancing quality and building a culture of excellence.
With James at the helm of this initiative, CEL is well-positioned to strengthen its operations, empower its teams and deliver even greater value to its customers.
Join us in congratulating James on his promotion.
