Advanced Metal Fabrication for Medical Waste Solution

The result was the 50 Litre waste bin with a removable body, a solution that enhances waste disposal efficiency and hygiene.

Project Brief

Our client approached us with an idea for a medical waste bin that was robust and leak-proof. The bin needed to be stored upright and secure, with additional considerations for liquid waste. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements, the bin had to be easy to clean, user-friendly and seamlessly integrate into hospital and medical facility workflows. CEL Sheetmetal provided a full-service solution, from design consultation to assembly and packaging, ensuring every aspect met the client’s needs.

Design & Modelling Service 

The project began with an initial consultation to understand client needs and specifications. Detailed CAD models and technical drawings were created for client approval, followed by iterative refinements to ensure the design met both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Manufacturing/Metal Fabrication

The manufacturing phase started with laser cutting, which provided precision shaping of sheetmetal components. After cutting, CNC folding was used to shape the bin body and lid to the required dimensions. The components were then securely assembled through spot welding and full welding processes, ensuring structural integrity and durability.

Assembly & Packaging

Once the bins had been through the metal fabrication departments, the product had to be sent off for powder coating, this paint had specifically been asked that the lid was yellow due to requirements of our customers and the medical industry. The powder coat finish created a scratch-resistant layer, suitable for medical environments.

The final stage involved assembling the removable body mechanism, ensuring ease of waste disposal. Each unit underwent stringent quality control inspections to verify compliance with design and manufacturing standards. Once approved, the bins were carefully packaged to ensure safe transport and delivery.

The Final Product

In the end we delivered the final products to our customer, meeting all their requirements, robust, user-friendly medical waste bin. The medical bin has been successfully deployed in healthcare facilities, ensuring improved waste management and hygiene.
